Physiotherapy is a natural mechanical therapy which uses hands-on joint and tissue mobilisation by a highly trained Physiotherapist, along with prescribed exercises carried out by the client, to restore normal skeletal movement and function. By activating the body’s mechanical sensors, Physiotherapy promotes healing, and restores normal function to the body. In short, “Exercise is Medicine”!
Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy describes the branch of treatment for treating disorders affecting bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves, which cause pain, inflammation, and/or restricted movement. This encompasses sporting and non-sporting injuries, with the aim of returning you to optimal function, whether for work, hobbies or elite sport.
Orthopaedic Rehabilitation describes a branch of musculoskeletal rehabilitation which often follows surgery. This can be planned surgery, such as a knee replacement, or ACL reconstruction, or unplanned surgery, if required following a broken bone. Our fully equipped Rehabilitation Gymnasium is perfect to guide you back to fitness.
Neurological Physiotherapy describes a branch of treatment for movement problems caused by disease or injury to the Nervous System. Our Neurology specialist Physiotherapist Chris Shorter can help you to improve or restore the strength and mobility required, to maximise your level of function.
Sports Rehabilitation helps athletes to treat pain and dysfunction, with the emphasis on an evidence-based return to your sporting activity, and reduce susceptibility to further injury, whatever your level of participation. We have experience of working with individuals who enjoy social sport, competitive amateurs, semi-professional sport ( AFC Emley ) and currently work with a number of professional athletes, including elite internationals.
